About Us
George Ward
I apprenticed to a finish carpenter at age 14 and
worked with him until I joined the Navy in 1963 at
18. I worked at various wood projects during my Navy
career to include projects for the corporate
sponsors of the USO, and an award presented to
Emerson Fitapaldi at an Indianapolis 500 race from
the crew of the U.S.S. Indianapolis a submarine then
stationed in Hawaii.
Since leaving the Navy in 1993 I have worked in the
interior design field and building custom projects
of wood for military and civilian clients. |

Bryan Warden
Started working at Tidewater
Hardwood Lumber Company in June of 2000 learning
the types of all species, all the types of grades
and was how to grade lumber. After a few years
doing that I was moved from the yard to the mill
shop and was taught the machinery such as planning,
ripping, and cutting lumber for out going orders. In
2007 I started for the World of Hardwoods as an
inside salesman. The business moved and in 2009 I
went from a employee to a partner of the business
and become the (CFO) Chief Finance Officer of all
the finances, sales and buying of lumber. |

John Henry
The Tidewater Hardwood lumber Co. was started by my
father Malcolm Henry in 1950. After working at
Lemitwood Lumber Co. for some years after the war,
he left the company and leased land from the
Griffith Brothers who had a sawmill in Harman’s,
Maryland. He ended up buying the land and building
kilns at the location which came to be known as
Tidewater Lumber. He later bought the kilns in
Odenton from the Lemitwood operation when it went up
for auction. Dad continued in the wholesale lumber
business through the 50’s and 60’s. I came to work
from him in 1968. In 1972 we separated the
wholesale business from the retail, and built a
building in the rear of the lumber yard, and the
World Of Hardwoods was started. In the 1980’s the
big furniture companies all went by the wayside and
the nature of wholesale business changed to
just-in-time delivery. Business was generally good
through the 90’s and up to 2003. It was around then
that dad’s health deteriorated and we decided to
separate Tidewater from the World Of Hardwoods. In
2005 we incorporated with the current partners, and
in 2008 moved to our current location in the
Linthicum area. |
